GreenPort Alliance

Challenges: The maritime port services sector faces significant challenges in reducing emissions, promoting sustainability, and adapting to environmental regulations. Key challenges include the need for behavioural change within port operations, the lack of integrated green skills in existing curricula, and the urgency to address the impact of emissions on the environment and climate. 

Objectives

  • Develop innovative curricula: GREENPORT aims to create new educational materials for higher education and vocational training that integrate green skills and promote sustainability in port services 
  • Foster knowledge exchange: By facilitating collaboration between academia, industry, and research entities, GREENPORT seeks to enhance the flow of knowledge and best practices in emissions reduction and sustainable port operations. 
  • Drive behavioural change: Through targeted training and awareness programmes, GREENPORT aims to instil a culture of sustainability and environmental responsibility within the maritime sector 
  • Enhance skills and competencies: The project aims to equip port service personnel with the necessary skills and competencies to navigate the green transition and meet the demands of a sustainable maritime industry 
  • Promote innovation and collaboration: GREENPORT strives to foster a culture of innovation and collaboration among stakeholders in the maritime sector to address the challenges of emissions reduction and sustainability effectively.
